Polarizing beamsplitters are designed to split randomly polarized light into reflected S-polarized and transmitted P-polarized beams. These beamsplitters are used in 1:1 beamsplitting applications with randomly-polarized light sources, or for filtering applications to enhance the polarized light to a higher polarizing level to increase the extinction ratio.

Beam splitters are common components in laser or illumination systems. Beamsplitters are also ideal for fluorescence applications, optical interferometry, or life science or semiconductor instrumentation.
