The laser rangefinder is a device for measuring distances with a laser beam. These devices are widely used in geodesy, topographic surveying, special equipment, navigation, and astronomical research. Laser rangefinders are distinguished by the principle of action on pulsed and phase. The educational kit will introduce students to the work of the impulse rangefinder. It consists of a pulsed laser with a wavelength of 905 nm and a photodetector of radiation. The pulse duration is 50 ns, the peak power is 40 W, and the repetition rate is adjustable from 1 Hz to 12 kHz. The method of measuring distance is to measure the time during which the beam travels to the reflector and back, and knowing the value of the speed of light, the distance between the laser and the reflecting object is calculated. During the assembly and tuning of the laser rangefinder, students will gain skills in working with various optical lenses, detecting radiation, and synchronizing signals.
