Properties: white to light yellow crystal, red in dew. It is soluble in hot water and hot ethanol, alkali hydroxide, borax solution and glycerin, slightly soluble in cold water and ether. When the solution is stored, the color becomes dark, and the melting point is 100-120 ℃ (140 ℃). It's irritating. Hematoxylin, one of the most commonly used dyes, is a pigment extracted from the dried branches of Sumeria (tropical legumes) in South America. Hematoxylin can't be dyed directly. It must be exposed to the ventilating place to make it become oxidized hematoxylin (also called hematoxylin) before it can be used. This is called "maturity". The "mature" process of hematoxylin takes a long time, and the longer the time after configuration, the stronger the dyeing power. Only when the metal salt is used as the medium can the dyed material have the coloring power. Therefore, mordants should be used in the preparation of hematoxylin dyes. Common mordants include aluminum sulfate, potassium alum and iron alum. Hematoxylin is a good material for staining nuclei. It can differentiate different structures into different colors. The color of the differentiated tissue varies with the treatment. After differentiation with acid solution (such as hydrochloric acid alcohol), it turns red, and after washing, it still turns blue. After differentiation with alkaline solution (such as ammonia water), it turns blue, and after washing, it turns blue black. It turns red in light. In aqueous solution, especially in alkaline solution, it is easy to be oxidized into red brown oxidized hematoxylin by air.
