1. Does Throttle Controller increase horsepower?
Please note that Throttle Controller does not increase horsepower! Why? Because after installation, the ECU data of the original car did not change, which means that the air intake and oil supply did not change. The RPM is the same as the original car, and the maximum horsepower and torque are not changed, that is to say, if the maximum power of the original car is 110KW, it will be same 11OKW after the installation!That is to say, the performance has not been improved! In fact, it is impossible to increase the horsepower by installing such a small chip! If it can, why people spend lots of money on ECU Tuning?
2. So why do all throttle controller companies say they can increase power by 60%?
It's a marketing tool, because if they say the real job of throttle controller is to eliminate throttle lag, who's going to pay for that? No one will! But if they say it can increase power by 60%, they can seduce a large number of people's interest! And after installation, you really can find your car is much faster, so a lot of people believe! And normally many driver will not measure the maximum power and torque, so all throttle controller companies say it can increase power!That's why many drivers despise it! 3. Is throttle controller worth being installed or not?
We started from the principle of throttle controller. It can only control the throttle opening speed. We know that the throttle is actually same as gaspedal. When pushing gaspedal slowly, throttle opens slowly. When pushing gaspedal fast, throttle opens fast.
The old cars before 2005 are wire throttle, which connect with gaspedal through a wire. How much you push gaspedal is same time as throttle opening. So you don’t feel throttle lag and speeding up is quite linear. But today's cars are all electronic throttle, what you push is actually a signal which will spread to throttle ECU and transform to throttle.
