1.introduction of 7049 T73                                                                                                                  

General characteristics:
7049 alloy was treated by solution heat treatment and aging hardening.
High mechanical properties can be obtained. Its strength is essentially equal to the strength of 7079-T6 alloy. Its fatigue properties and fracture toughness are similar to those of 7076-T6 alloy.
The stress corrosion cracking resistance of 7049-T7 3 alloy is excellent.
It was originally developed as a forging alloy to produce large cross-section die forgings for the aviation industry.

Applications: Aircraft structural parts, missile components.

2.introduction of 7068 T6                                                                                                                     

 

7068 alloy is a 7000 series aluminum-zinc alloy registered with the US Aluminium Association and produced to AMS 4331 (chemical composition and mechanical properties) and AMS 2772 (heat treatment). 7068 alloy ‘A’ and ‘B’ tensile data and fatigue properties have been ratified for inclusion in MIL Handbook 5 / MMPDS. The standard supply temper condition is T6511. For applications requiring greater resistance to stress corrosion cracking the T76511 condition is available to order.

 

7068 aluminum alloy is the strongest commercially available aluminum alloy, and comparable to that of some steels. 7068-T6511 has a typical ultimate tensile strength of 103 ksi (710 MPa) versus a similar product produced from 7075-T6511 that would have a typical ultimate tensile strength of 93 KSI (640 MPa). Typical yield strength for alloy 7068-T6511 is 99 KSI (680 MPa) versus 86 KSI (590 MPa) for a similar product produced from 7075-T6511.
