Chakras and Notes of Singing Bowls Chakras are the psychoactive energy centers in the human body. These are directly associated with physical, mental and emotional health of a person. There are many chakras in the human body but only seven of them constitute the main energy centers. Making of a Singing Bowl First the metal is heated over 2000 °C until it is completely liquified. After that, the melted metal is poured into a vessel, where it takes the shape of the singing bowl. The ones made in the factory are refined using machine, and the handmade ones are beaten from the very beginning, using traditional techniques. In this way plain singing bowls are made. For etching carving, the plain bowl is again painted with different color. That color is made using wood-fire ashes. First the wood is burnt with the top covered, which collects a black smoke forming small dust particles, which is mixed with liquid to get the ink.
Playing of a Singing Bowl ⇒First, place the bowl on your palm of either hand. Do not touch the side of the bowl or hold the bowl with the fingers. ⇒Give a ding to the bowl with the striker, it produces a sound. Now, slowly rub the striker around the bowl with an uniform speed. Gently, increase the speed as the bowl begins to vibrate. You can increase or decrease the tone as per your need. ⇒ Or you can even produce the sound and vibration just by hitting the bowl.
How a Singing Bowl Works If someone has some kind of tension, the sound produced by using it in this way and listening to it, one can get relaxed. Singing bowls produce sounds which evoke a deep state of relaxation which naturally assist our brain and body, entering into a meditative state. The Vibration is same as the brain wave, and it is said that it will help to get into the deep concentration. They are an essential aid to meditation.

Cleaning and Caring of a Singing Bowl In order to maintain the sonic sparkle in the bowl, we need to clean it from time to time. Please use white vinegar and a soft cloth to remove the caked dust and the marks. In Nepal, some of us also use the ashes mixed with mustard oil to clean the bowl. You can also use a mild, scratch-free brass polish if available.
Please do not rub or grind on hard surface, it damages the bowl. Also please be careful about dropping on a hard surface, it breaks down the bowl.
