Question :
Is it water proof?
Answer:
1. It is waterproof up to just before the box with the electronics. The shaft and the coil are waterproof but do not submerge the whole unit.
2. I haven't used it under water, just in wet grass, and it worked great.
Question:
Does it make a continuous humming sound that grows in intensity near metal, or does it only signal over metal?
Answer:
1.Mine is silent until it senses metal. With experience you can learn to differentiate the tone with the size and depth of the objects.
2.The best way I can think to describe is a "zip" noise. It's not continuous.
3.It will only signal over metal.
4.In fact it makes humming sound, when Hunter finds trash it doesnt sound, this is marvelous. I just found one rare coin I must to avaluate it. When Hunter found it sounded one and another time with great intensity.
Question:
Does it detect gold well?
Answer:
1.It detects gold very well! I lost my wedding band deep in a huge pile of shredded leafy mulch. It took awhile to find it, but when I got near it, it sang out like a banshee.
2.I wish I knew!! I use it to find cartridge casings. It works really good in my opinion. I've found nails, screws pop cans shredded by the lawn mower.
