Description

UNIPRETEC provides Machinable Glass Ceramic in same grade as Macor. Our Machinable Glass Ceramic is very popular with Engineers and Universities as an "R & D" material as it lends itself to modification using conventional metalworking tools.

Machinable Glass Ceramic has a continuous use temperature of 800°C and a peak temperature of 1000°C. Its coefficient of thermal expansion readily matches most metals and sealing glasses. It is non-wetting and unlike ductile materials, won't deform. It is an excellent insulator at high voltages, various frequencies and high temperatures. And, when properly baked out, it won't outgas in vacuum environments.

Machinable Glass Ceramic is widely used in following applications: Welding Nozzles, Fixtures, Medical Equipment, Nuclear-related Experiments, Aerospace Industry, Constant Vacuum Applications, Ultra-high Vacuum Environments...

Properties

- has a high use temperature (800°C continuous; 1000°C peak)
- has a low thermal conductivity and is a useful high temperature insulator
- is an excellent electrical insulator and is used extensively throughout the semiconductor & electronic industries
- has no porosity and when properly baked, will not outgas. It is widely used in ultra high vacuum applications
- is radiation resistant and plays a key role in nuclear applications and nuclear-related research and development
- is strong and rigid. It unlike high temperature plastics will not creep or deform
- can be thick or thin film metallized, brazed, epoxy and frit bonded
- is white and can be highly polished. It is the perfect material for medical and optical devices.
