Qatar customer contacted us in June 2019. This is one of our regular customer. He had a new project. He wanted to buy a horizontal dredge pump to suck the sand from the river to fill the underground pipe. As there was no electric power source around, so the diesel engine was the ideal choice to drive the slurry transport using centrifugal pumps. He required the sand output not less than 400 tons per hour, the dredging depth was not less than 15 meters. The sand discharge distance would be 300 meters all in the water. Generally, this type of slurry transport using centrifugal pumps connects with diesel engine by V belt, the speeds of the slurry transport using centrifugal pumps and the diesel engine are adjusted by the belt and pulley. However, for this dredge pump set, the power is large. If we connect the pump with diesel engine by V belt directly, the large diagonal tension may damage the clutch and the diesel engine crankshaft. Our engineer designed a transition shaft and two bearing boxes, In this way, even if the diagonal pulling force is large, it only hurts the bearing and does not hurt the diesel engine crankshaft. In addition, we also made the following improvements to the slurry transport using centrifugal pumps.
We also designed a stable base for the pump set, the bottom of the base could adjust the distance between the portable pump and diesel engine, so it could adjust the tightness of the V belt.
Considering that the working environment of Qatar is in the tropics, we had selected the high-temperature resistant V belt for the customer. The V belts are wearing parts. When the belts are worn, it is necessary to remove the shaft and change the belt. For the convenience of our customer, we have attached another 5 belts so that the customer can replace them directly without removing the shaft.
In order to ensure the personal safety of the workers, we welded the protective plates around the belt. Before testing the pump, we also tested the hardness of the pump casing, the material is fully compliant.
The total discharge distance was 300 meters, all on the water. As the HDPE pipe can not bend well, so we recommend customer to use flexible rubber hose. Total of 24 pcs HDPE pipe and 12 pcs flexible rubber hose. He also bought 72 pairs of floaters from us.
