FCR3 Product FAQ

Q: What is the purpose of FCR3?
A: FCR3 is a heat reflective faceshield manufactured by our innovative physical vapor deposition technology. It is used to reflect the radiant heat away. Using the BLUE EAGLE faceshields, the user’s face will feel cooler, more comfortable and the worker will be more productive.

Q: What is the difference between aluminized faceshields and gold faceshields?
A: Both aluminized and gold faceshields have good heat reflective ability. However, gold faceshield is much more expensive than aluminized faceshield.

Q: How to choose a good heat reflective faceshield?
A: There are two methods to evaluate heat reflective faceshields.
(1) ISO 6942 – Evaluation of materials when exposed to a source of radiant heat.
When leveled according to ISO 11612 clause 7.3 (radiant heat), FCR3 passes the highest performance level C4 (> 95 seconds), i.e. it provides the highest protection against radiant heat.
(2) EN 166 clause 7.3 – enhanced reflectance in the infrared
FCR3 can reflect 75% infrared when tested according to EN 166 clause 7.3.

Q: What is the temperature of radiant heat source can FCR3 protect?
A: The radiant heat temperature that FCR3 can protect varies with distance, mass, and time. FCR3 is ideal for use in steel mills, casting shops and foundries, and, in those workplaces, the temperature of molten iron is 1200 °C or higher.
