Excellent Little Contraption
I looked at just about every fabric shaver Amazon offers and this one had the best reviews here and Googling it elsewhere. I just used it upon receiving it today and it made a couple of hooded sweatshirts and one pair of sweatpants look absolutely terrific. I don't know why these items seemed to have pilled so badly, they're not cheap , they're decent quality Champion brand. I'm gonna start washing them inside out to see if that helps.
Regardless -- the pilling has been eliminated for now and this little contraption did exactly what I was hoping for. Good stuff.

You don't know you need it until you've used it
I bought this specifically to use on an Origin as it was pilling. Supposedly just 'rolling' more is supposed to resolve this, but after rolling for 6 months with it, the only thing the pilling did was get worse.
I finally broke down and researched a lint shaver and took my chances with this one. As you can see in the images, it does an amazing job. It's comfortable to hold for long periods of time, and dumping the lint chamber is very easy.
I spent about an hour or so working on my as it was atrocious. This thing has it looking brand new. My best piece of advice when working on something like this material is to do random patterns. Do figure eights, circles, back and forth, etc all while varying the degree of the face of the shaver.
My only suggestion to Philips would be to have the power slider 'snap' into the "on" or "off" position. It's pretty easy to turn off when you are using it. I also wish they made them a bit larger so it was quicker to go over large surface areas, but not a huge deal.

Adds years to clothing lifetime
I had a couple cashmere sweaters that were so pilled I couldn’t wear them anymore. I was thinking about donating them, but doubted anyone would want sweaters this worn-out.
Very effective and safe for clothes - When I got this I was able to completely refresh both sweaters, as well as dozens of other things in my closet I didn’t even realize were fixable. I had little pill build up on lace bras and camisoles, and I was even able to safely remove the lint/pills without affecting the lace. You also can’t easily cut yourself - the little holes in the metal face are only big enough for pills - not for fingers, for example.
Easy to use - Cleaning it out is not too tricky, though lint dust gets stuck in the corners. I take it outside and blow on it
instead of using the little brush they provide. The couple of times I accidentally removed the blades I was able to very easily place them back.
Overall excellent value and fun to use - I am SO impressed with this, and -perk- it’s deeply satisfying to watch your clothes become smooth and beautiful again as you use it. If you’re doubting whether to get this, don’t - you will definitely save money and help the planet by extending the life of your favorite items.

Does it work for cashmere sweater?

It certainly should. You will want to be extra careful since the material is so valuable. Try with lower pressure and just attempt slightly greater pressure until you are happy with the pill removal. I push fairly firmly for my thick acrylic blend sweater. It does a great job. I check it often, dump the shaved off pills, and don’t let it overheat. I suggest putting your item on a hard surface also so your pressure is steady. It will also be more efficient that way.
