PLA melts more easily because it has a lower melting point than many fossil based plastics. It's easy to work with PLA and it requires less energy to transform. One of the two most used plastics in 3D printing (45% market share) . It has a low melting point, inexpensive, easy to print and no fumes.
The benefit of PLA is that it's made from corn , not oil.Producing PLA uses 65% less energy than producing conventional plastics , according to an independent analysis commissioned by nature works. It also generates 68% fewer greenhouse gases. And if incinerated , bioplastics don't emit toxic fumes like their oil-based counterparts.
