3D Baby Hands and Feet Casting Souvenir Kit Simple Step by Step Instructions
(Baby under 1 year old)
required objects:
1 plastic container large enough to dip baby's hands or feet into the molding solution. If you don't have a container, you can
also use a clear, sturdy plastic bag.
1 smaller plastic bowl for mixing the plaster
stirring spoon
thermometer
timer
raw material:
1 x100g plaster bag
1 x 100g bag of molding powder mix
300~320mL warm water mixed molding powder (3~3.2 times of the powder amount)
80 to 90 ml warm water mixed with gypsum powder (1/3 to 1/2 of the amount of powder)
Important: Do not add too much water to the powder mix or they will not set properly and your casting will not be successful.
instruct:
1. Mix the molding powder with 3 to 3.2 times the amount of powder (300 to 320 ml). Stir quickly until the mixture is as smooth as
possible. The mixture will turn purple/pink. Remember not to add too much water to the mixture.
2. Immediately after 1 minute, place baby's hands or feet into this purple molding mixture. Make sure your hands or feet are fully
immersed in the water without damaging the surface of the mixture or touching the rim of the cup.
3. Try to keep your baby's hands or feet as still as possible while the molding mixture sets.
4. Keep your baby's feet in the mold for another 240 seconds to make sure the mold is fully seated, then you can take their hands
or feet out of the mold very carefully and smoothly.
5. To ensure a smooth release from the mold, gently rock back and forth to allow air to enter the mold opening.
6. Once the hands or feet are removed, open a 50 g bag of plaster and mix with 1/3 to 1/2 the amount of water (80 to 90 ml). Stir
as soon as possible until the mixture is as smooth as possible. Do not add too much water to the stone powder. The higher the
concentration, the stronger the casting.
7. Slowly pour the stone powder mixture into the opening of the mold. Gently shake the mold while pouring to make sure the liquid
gets into all tiny areas and avoid air trapping inside and creating bubbles.
8. After 1 hour, the stone mixture should set. Very gently remove the mold from the casting. You can use a knife very carefully to
help open the mold or by hand. Make sure to open it very slowly to make sure you don't break the casting.
9. After removing the casting, you may see a little powder on the surface. Washable and air-dried for more than 24 hours.
10. Paint Coating: After 24 hours, you can paint your finished beautiful casting any color you want.
