De Matteis Agroalimentare SpA, is a Company specialized in the production of top quality pasta with control of its entire
production process, from the wheat to the finished product, to guarantee that it is both healthy and safe.
Established in 1993 in Flumeri (province of Avellino), close to the main durum wheat-growing areas in Apulia, Campania and Basilicata, De Matteis Agroalimentare is one of the leading players in the dry pasta market, both in Italy and worldwide.
Today it is still among the very few companies in the industry to have its own mill connected directly to the pasta factory. The company has deep roots in the land and the community where it operates every day and has two production plants: the main one is located in Flumeri, which was later joined by a second one in Giano dell’Umbria, in the province of Perugia. During 2019 De Matteis also opened a branch office in the US in order to best serve their primary export market, followed by Germany in Europe.
Pasta Armando is the premium brand of the De Matteis pasta factory which stands out for the production of high-quality pasta, made from 100% Italian durum wheat of the Armando direct supply chain.
The Armando Direct Supply Chain was born in 2010 from the intuition of the President Cavaliere del Lavoro Armando Enzo De Matteis.
It was one of the first realities of this kind and nowadays is unique in the Italian panorama because it provides a direct
agreement with each individual grower. The "
Armando Pact" implies the observance of a strict cultivation discipline based on virtuous agricultural practices.
The farmer undertakes to sow the varieties agreed with De Matteis and to cultivate the durum wheat in compliance with a strict cultivation discipline. Meanwhile the company undertakes to provide assistance in the field and to purchase the harvest at a guaranteed minimum price. Furthermore, the compensation increases in proportion to the quality parameters of the harvest.
