Silicon carbide (SiC) is made from quartz sand and petroleum coke or coal tar, wood chips and other raw materials by smelting in high temperature electric resistance furnace . In the high technology non-oxide refractory raw materials , such as C, N, B ,ilicon carbide is the most widely used and one of the most economic material. It can be called corundum or refractory sand.
Black Silicon Carbide is brittle and sharp. It has a good electrical and heat conductivity. Its Knoophandness is 3100-3280kg/mm2. Grinding wheels made of C are suitable for the grinding of metal and nometalic materials of low tensile strength such as grey cast iron, brass, aluminium, stone materials, leather and rubber etc. Moreover, it can also be used in the manufacture of refractory products and electric products etc.

1) Silicon carbide (SiC) is also called moissanite, commonly known as carborundum. Made from quartz sand, petroleum coke (orcoal), wood sawdust as raw material through the resistance furnace and high temperature melting.
2) Silicon carbide is very hard, Mohs hardness of 9.5, second only to the world's most hard diamond (10), has excellent thermal
conductivity, is a semiconductor, high temperature resistant to oxidation.

Application of Silicon Carbide Powder
1. as an abrasive, it can be used as a grinding tool, such as grinding wheel,oilstone,grinding head, sand tile, etc.
2. As a metallurgical deoxidizer andexotic material.
