Barite 4.2 Introduction:

Barite is chemically stable, insoluble in water and hydrochloric acid, non-magnetic and toxic. The chemical composition of barite is BaSO4, and the crystal belongs to the orthogonal (trapezoidal) system of sulfate minerals. Usually for thick flake or columnar crystals, more dense or massive or flake, granular aggregates. Pure colorless transparent, impurities dyed into a variety of colors, white stripes, glass luster, transparent to translucent.

Barite is a non-metallic mineral with barium sulfate (BaSO4) as the main component. Pure barite is white and shiny, and often gray, light red and light yellow due to the influence of impurities and foreign bodies. Barite with good crystallization can also appear transparent crystals. Barite is a mixture. Barium sulfate was produced by processing and purifying barite. Almost insoluble in water, ethanol and acid, soluble in concentrated sulfuric acid.

Barium sulfate BaSO4 typical characteristics:

Application fields and main uses of barite

Oil drilling:

Rotary drilling of oil and gas Wells circulates mud weighter, cools bit, removes debris, lubricates drill pipe, seals hole wall,
controls oil and gas pressure, and avoids oil injection.

Chemical industry:

Used for the production of BaCo3, BaCl2, BaSO4 Lithopone, Ba(OH)2, BaO and other barium compounds.

Barium compounds are widely used in reagents, catalysis, sugar production, prevention and control, fire prevention, all kinds of fireworks, coagulant synthetic resin, plastics, pesticides, steel surface hardening, phosphor, flux, oil additives and so on.

Glass:

Deoxidizer, clarifier and flux increase the optical temperature, gloss and strength of the glass.

Rubber, plastic, paint, filler, fluorescent brightening agent, weight increasing agent.

Build:

Concrete aggregate, paving materials:
