What is ferrocene?
Ferrocene is an organic transition metal compound with aromatic properties. Its chemical formula is Fe(C5H5)2. It is an orange powder with camphor odor at room temperature. Melting point 172℃-174℃, boiling point 249℃, above 100℃ can sublimate; Insoluble in water, soluble in benzene, ether, gasoline, diesel and other organic solvents.
Function of ferrocene
Ferrocene can undergo Fourier-Crouche reactions, such as when phosphoric acid is used as a catalyst, ferrocene reacts with acetic anhydride or acetyl chloride to produce acetyl ferrocene.
Application of ferrocene
Chiral phosphine ferrocene ligands are used in some transition elements-catalyzed reactions. These reactions are used in industry to synthesize drugs and agricultural chemicals
