1. Phthalic anhydride is a cyclic anhydride, is an important chemical raw material, especially for plasticizer manufacturing.

2. Dibutyl phthalate, Dioctyl phthalate are important plasticizers. Phthalic anhydride and polyols (such as glycerol, pentaerythritol) can generate polyarylate resin in condensation way, used in paint industry; if an unsaturated acid with ethylene glycol happening condensation, the resulting chemicals is unsaturated polyester resin, for the manufacturing of insulating paint and glass fiber reinforced plastics .
