PTFE-coated fiberglass threads are durable and temperature resistant. High temperature sewing threads are often used to fabricate protective clothing, welding and fire blankets, and removable insulation.

PTFE glass sewing threads are manufactured from E or S2 glass continuous filament yarns which are then encapsulated in PTFE to enhance the resistance to contaminate build up and to repel attacks from most acids and alkalis.

The PTFE coating is smooth and consistent allowing minimal possibility of kink, strip back and breakage that can be experienced using other very high temperature yarns.

PTFE-coated fiberglass thread can withstand operating temperatures up to 600°F / 315°C, at which point the PTFE coating starts to degrade. The filament fiberglass beneath the PTFE can withstand peak temperatures up to 1000°F / 540°C.
