Wiggs VICTREX ®PEEK linear aromatic polymers in the UK have a semi-crystalline structure and are recognized as the best
thermoplastic materials available. Its main physical properties are summarized as follows:
High temperature performance: PEEK polymers and compounds typically have a glass transition temperature of 143C (289F) and a
melting point of 343C (649F). Independent tests show that PEEK polymer has a thermal deformation temperature of up to 315C (599F)
(ISO R75, filled with glass fiber) and a "continuous operating temperature" of 260C (500F) (UL 746B).
Wear resistance: PEEKTM polymers have excellent friction and wear resistance, which are best when the specially designed friction
grades are 450FC30 and 150FC30. These materials show excellent wear resistance in a wide range of pressure, speed, temperature and
contact surface roughness.
Chemical corrosion resistance: PEEK polymer is well resistant to most chemical environments even at high temperatures. In a normal
environment, the only one that can dissolve PEEKTM polymers.
Flammability, soot and gas emission levels: PEEK polymer is very stable and can reach Vmurl 0 without flame retardant additives at
a thickness of 0.057 inches. The composition and inherent purity of the material make it produce only a very small amount of soot
and poison gas in a fire environment.
Resistance to hydrolysis: PEEK polymer and compounds are resistant to chemical damage caused by water or high pressure steam. The
components made of these materials can work continuously in the water environment under high temperature and high pressure, but
still maintain good mechanical properties.
Electrical properties: PEEK polymer maintains its electrical properties over a wide range of frequencies and temperatures.
Purity: PEEKTM polymer material composition is pure, only a very small amount of separable ions, and excellent degassing
properties.
