There is a saying that you have not been to China, if you have not visited the terracotta warriors. Located to the west of Xi’an, terracotta warriors is a collection of a tomb treasures of Qinshihuang, the first emperor of China. They were built by hundreds of thousands of men more than 2,000 years ago. Terracotta warriors were a copy of Qinshihuang’s powerful army, which conquered and unified the Six States.
Each warrior was as big and vivid as a real soldier. The facial features, expressions and hairlines of the clay warriors were exact duplicates of real ones. Life-sized war chariots and horses were also made. This army of clay statues is as effective and strong as any real- life military force. When you visit Terracotta warriors it will remind you of the glorious times of the Qin Dynasty. We marvel at the sculpture art in Qin dynasty achieved such a high achievement.

General with sword

Generals, also called high-ranking officer, are the rarest among all terracotta warriors. Only 9 Generals have been excavated up to now. There are two kinds of Generals, one in battle robes and the other in armors. Generals in battle robes have feather knots on their chest while Generals in armors have feather knots on chest, back and shoulders. Their distinctive wearings indicate that they are commanders of the army. This one is the famous Sword General in a position with his hands crossed at the waist in front of his stomach. This position indicates that he was standing there with sword between his hands and the ground, presenting the majesty of a superior general.

The process used to create one warrior takes several weeks or longer time from start to finish, with the warriors being kiln fired for several days and then left to air cool naturally. The heads are created separately from the bodies allowing each to take on individual features.

CARE OF YOUR STATUE

Please take care when unpacking your statue, we suggest you unpack it close to its final location. The head is packed separately and is usually located near the legs.
Once the statue is unpacked, if you need to move it, we recommend you do so in an upright position with the use of a sack barrow, as the weight of the statue is in its leg.

If it is to be exceptionally cold, say around -4 , we suggest you cover the statue during this period with a fleece/blanket for protection.
Some weathering and colour changing due to weathering may occur over a period of time.
