What is AdBlue / DEF ?
AdBlue (Diesel exhaust fluid; also known as AUS 32 and marketed as DEF ) is a liquid used to reduce the amount of air pollution created by a diesel engine.
AdBlue is an aqueous urea solution made with 32.5% urea and 67.5% deionized water. And it is consumed in selective catalytic reduction (SCR) that lowers the concentration of nitrogen oxides (NOₓ) in the diesel exhaust emissions from a diesel engine.
How does AdBlue works?
After the exhaust gas comes out of the turbine, it enters the exhaust mixing pipe.Sprayed the AdBlue into the metering injection device which installed on the mixing pipe. The urea undergoes hydrolysis and pyrolysis reaction at high temperature to generate NH3. The SCR system catalyst surface uses NH3 to reduce NOX. , N2 is discharged, and the excess NH3 is also oxidized to N2 to prevent leakage.
