COLOMBA
“Colomba” cake is a traditional and typical Italian baked cake. It is made following an ancient recipe and its name comes from the dove (“colomba” is the Italian word for “dove”) that is a symbol of Easter and peace. Colomba has the shape of a dove. It is obtained from a leavened dough based on water, flour, butter, eggs, candied orange peel. This is the description of the Classic Colomba.
Of course during the years many different ingredients were added to the classic recipe in order to have Colomba with new flavors: for example Colomba with chocolate or Colomba with cherries.
