Magnesium Photoengraving Plate
Fast, Neat slope, Good continuity, and Smooth edges. Compared to zinc photoengraving plate,magnesium photoengraving
plate has more advantages.Magnesium plate has a small specific gravity, light weight, fast heat conduction, heat transfer and heat dissipation, high surface hardness, easy demolding, and the etching of magnesium plate is hardly deformed during the hot stamping process.
Magnesium plate etches clean and fast when using nitric acid. These properties make it ideal for use in numerous applications,foil hot stamping, cold foil stamping, embossing, debossing, engraving, crash printing, thermal dies, plaques, awards, letterpress printing and making engraving masters for rubber plates.
The advancement in raw material preparation and the etching process have brought the quality of magnesium on par with heavier metals such as copper or brass.

Photoengraving Magnesium Plate Etching in Chemical Etching Machine
Etching Principle: The magnesium plate is to be corroded clamped on the turntable of the machine. Magnesium plate is also subjected to vertical impact of the corrosive liquid while making a rotary motion. The unexposured part of magnesium plate is corroded and dissolved, then a graphic magensium plate dies is made.
Chemical Etching Process
How to finish a good magnesium plate etched dies?
1. Exposure: Exposure machine power should be above 2kw; exposure time no less than 300 seconds. Use of 21 step
sensitivity guide and 9~11 range exposure is recommended.
2. Developing: Use NaOH solution, suggested solution temperature is 21-29℃.
3. Touch up: Examine the developed plate for flaws and touch up as needed.
4. Descumming: Put finished plate into 3%-5% (Volume) nitric acid solution, use brush to clean the plate surface. Apply
Arabic gum evenly on the plate surface after cleaning with water, and then the plate is ready for next step etching.
5. Etching bath preparation: Prepare it for different etching plate accordingly.
6. Etching settings: Set the etching data for different plates.
7. Bath acid replenishment.
8. Top coating removal (optional).
