1. Diatomaceous earth is also known as Diatomite Earth, Kieselguhr, Kieselgur, and Celite.

2. It is very porous which makes it used extensively as a filter for a variety of purposes.

3. It is used to filter impurities out of everything from beer, wine and other kinds of things.

4. Diatomaceous earth is also widely used to filter impurities from water to produce drinkable water in public water systems.
