Docosahexaenoic Acid (DHA, 22:6 n-3), an omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acid (PUFA), is the most important essential fatty acid for human beings. DHA is a major building block of cell membranes and can be found in high concentrations in brain, nerve tissue and in the retina of the eyes. It is also an essential component in breast milk.
