79 Gold Infused Olive Oil - Culinary Experience - Frantoio Raguso.jpg

It all starts with our best, fruity and light extra virgin olive oil, squeezed from the very rare Bambina olive trees, the exclusive native variety of the hills of Gravina in Puglia.

The extra virgin olive oil obtained from the Bambina variety olives is the secret of the local farmers, jealously guarded for centuries of generations of farmers.

After having collected and sold other types of local olives (such as the famous Coratina), the farmers of Gravina in Puglia used the Bambina olives to produce "the good oil", not to be sold but to be consumed at home with the family. .

A secret to which the Frantoio Raguso has conferred historical and gastronomic dignity by collaborating with the University of Bari on a scientific study for the official recognition of the indigenous variety of Bambina olives.

To our most precious "liquid gold", as Homer already called it in ancient Greece, we add in infusion the edible 22 kt gold crumbs of Kanazawa, the city of gold leaves in Japan.

For over 5 centuries, the highly prized "Kanazawa Haku" have been one of the greatest expressions of Japanese craftsmanship. Even today they are produced by highly specialized artisans who beat gold with ancient methods to obtain an extremely thin sheet (0.1 millionths of a meter).

Is gold edible? Yes, for millennia it has been one of the finest ingredients in the kitchens of the most powerful ancient emperors and nobles. The pharaohs of ancient Egypt considered it the food of the gods as early as 2000 BC.

Throughout history, many civilizations have attributed various alleged healing and purifying powers to gold. A supposition that combined with the splendor and rarity of gold has helped to fuel the innate and instinctive charm that has always attracted man to this precious metal.

Today edible gold is considered safe as it has no contraindications for the body. Its use in the kitchen is regulated by the European Food Safety Authority and various international standards.

Storage

Storage

Extra virgin olive oil does not have a real expiration date. We recommend consuming it within 12-18 months from the bottling date. However, proper storage of the oil helps to maintain its qualities longer. Here are some tips:

Temperature: store the oil away from heat sources in rooms between 10 and 20 degrees. Do not store it in the refrigerator;
Closing: always keep the container hermetically closed. Prolonged opening facilitates oxidation and absorption of foreign odors. Keep the oil away from detergents or hygienic products.
Light: store the oil in the dark to protect it from sunlight and prevent oxidation.
