The BS06 has a classic shape with an enlarged center section that gently fits into the palm of your hand.  This is the recommended form for enabling a powerful grip.  The curve creates an area of reduced thickness that allows extra lateral stability by letting you firmly sit the grip in the cleft of your thumb.  This reduced diameter also makes it easy to maintain grip while using your thumb and index fingers to operate shifter and brake controls.  Pommel ends keep your hands in place and prevent slipping.
