Vietnamese banh trang are rice paper wrappers that are edible. They are made from steamed rice batter, then sun-dried. A more modern method is to use machines that can steam and dry the wrapper for a thinner and more hygienic product, suitable for the export market.
Rice paper is an indispensable part of many typical dishes of Vietnam cuisine such as fresh spring rolls, fried spring rolls, rice paper salad or fried rice paper, .... The material for making rice paper is thinly-coated rice flour, so it is called rice paper.
Vietnamese rice paper is made of natural ingredients (rice, starch, table salt), safe and does not use any chemical preservatives.
